The Nigerian Medical Journal is a peer-review scientific journal. The NMJ expects reviewers to

  1. Provide speedy, accurate, courteous, unbiased and justifiable reports.
  2. Ensure the rigorous standards of the scientific process by upholding the quality and validity of individual articles
  3. Uphold the integrity of the journal by identifying invalid research
  4. Not use submitted manuscripts for an unauthorised purpose
  5. Should not make any use of the data, arguments, or interpretations, unless the reviewer has the authors’ permission
  6. If publication misconduct such as plagiarism is suspected, the reviewer should write in confidence to the editor.
  7. Submit comments/recommendations to the editor and the authors.
  8. Declare any personal, commercial, political, academic or financial Interest to the Editor

The review process for the NMJ is conducted using the journal PKP/OJS publication platform

First-time users who are reviewers should register on the journal website and enter the requested information. Upon successful registration, you will be sent an email with instructions and your log-in information.

After logging in, reviewers may access manuscripts assigned to them for review and submit comments to the editor and the authors. 

Reviewers should contact the editorial office for technical problems or questions regarding the online review of manuscripts by email.
